A woman who identified herself as the youth's mother, Judy Brown, was at the fire scene Thursday afternoon, and said the police had picked up her son for questioning.

She refused to say more, but finally agreed to call back using a pseudonym, Judy Brown.

In desperation Detective Giorgio gave the story to the Westchester papers, appealing for Judy Brown to call.
