Schoonmaker's Company eventually became the Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 156th Field Artillery, in 1986.

Members of Headquarters Battery follow them with varying degrees of success.

As a result of this downsizing, the Headquarters Battery was reduced in size in 1994.

It was redesignated February 1, 1967 as Headquarters Battery, 3rd Field Artillery Group, Force Troops.
