No. 83 Group RAF controlled 2TAF's southern area from 1952 to 1958.

No. 10 Group RAF was given the task.

These met with strong resistance, but an attack by bombers from No 2 Group RAF subdued the defenders and reduced their will to fight.

All were handed over to No. 18 Group RAF.

Meanwhile No. 10 Group RAF were ordered into action.

No 2 Group RAF also contributed with 28 sorties.
