Some Greenwich residents, of course, could not have been more pleased.

"This is an issue that affects average, working Greenwich residents who pay to maintain the beach."

Old Greenwich residents said any further road congestion would be too much.

Outside the church, a few Greenwich residents laid flowers on the grass.

"I have faith it will someday all fall into place," a 54-year-old Greenwich resident said.

"You have to deal with the reality of human nature," said one longtime Greenwich resident.

But eight years ago the Greenwich resident became a member of a new minority: women leaving medicine.

"I enjoy the challenge," said the Greenwich resident and mother of two.

The park is open only to Greenwich residents, who must buy an annual beach pass to get in, and their guests.

But my guess is that the same is now true for many Greenwich residents.
