During the 1930s the Estonian Folklore Archives revived Hurt's original project and published volumes III and IV of Vana Kannel in 1938 and 1941 respectively.
His work was compiled in the Danish Folklore Archives, and was later transferred to the Royal Danish Library.
By leaving his collection to a public institution, he can be credited for playing a significant role in the creation of the Danish Folklore Archives.
