The unit was reformed as the 133rd Fighter-Interceptor Group under Minnesota state control on 1 December 1952.
The 56th Fighter-Interceptor Group was scheduled to move to the base as soon as it was completed.
In January 1950, the group was redesignated 50th Fighter-Interceptor Group.
In July 1957, the squadron was expanded to a group-level, with the establishment of the 145th Fighter-Interceptor Group.
The 101st Fighter-Interceptor Group was assigned to the new Wing as a subordinate unit.
It was redesignated 56th Fighter-Interceptor Group on 20 January 1950.
Extended recognition as a new unit on 15 December 1957 and assigned to the new 134th Fighter-Interceptor Group.
It was re-designated as the 128th Fighter-Interceptor Group on 1 November 1950.
In January 1950, it was redesignated as the 57th Fighter-Interceptor Group.
