A Fidelity spokeswoman, citing company policy not to discuss individual stocks, declined comment.

"We are in the process of closing this down," said a Fidelity spokeswoman, Anne Crowley.

"There was some small movement from equities to money market funds," said Anne Crowley, a Fidelity spokeswoman, "but nothing of consequence."

The material will be distributed by fax or electronic mail each day after 5 P.M., a Fidelity spokeswoman said.

"When all investors call at the same time, things do get jammed up," said Ms. Ernst, the Fidelity spokeswoman.

"By law, we have to disclose it that way," Marilyn Morrison, a Fidelity spokeswoman, said of last week's filing.

A Fidelity spokeswoman said that Mr. Lynch was unavailable for comment.

A Fidelity spokeswoman did not say what might have been sold in the heavy trading last week.

"We think it aligns our interest with the shareholders," said Robyn Tice, a Fidelity spokeswoman.
