To the Editor: There is a legitimate place for schools to recognize outstanding achievement with honorary doctoral degrees (Education page, May 31).
By broadening the remit of the Education page to include them, we hope we'll make such pieces easier to find for those who are interested in them.
To the Editor: The debate over the creation of national tests in fourth-grade reading and eighth-grade math (Education page, Sept. 10) misses the point.

To the Editor: You report that budget cuts have hurt private colleges near Philadelphia (Education page, Oct. 14).
(Education page, Jan. 23) takes the premise that our schools should be teaching children better factual lessons about the Middle East.
To the Editor: The Socratic method (Education page, June 5) knows no gender.
