Earl Nugent was a title the Peerage of Ireland.

In 1788 Lord Buckingham also succeeded his father-in-law as second Earl Nugent according to a special remainder in the letters patent.
When his father-in-law died in 1788, George succeeded him as 2nd Earl Nugent.
He was later created Earl Nugent.
Robert Craggs-Nugent, 1st Viscount Clare (1702-1788; created Earl Nugent in 1776)
Louisa was a daughter of Robert Nugent, 1st Earl Nugent and co-heir to his substantial wealth.
In 1776 he was further honoured when he was made Earl Nugent.
