He got the title of Count Palatine, which his father had used before.

To achieve them, the Count Palatine was able to use violent means.

This stood for the Counts Palatine, possibly putting its origin before 1506.

With the Count Palatine's acquisition of the village, he also received the patronage rights.

Later the castle became home to the Counts palatine of the Rhein.

He was succeeded as Count Palatine by his son Louis.

In return for this he was made Count Palatine, with the right to call himself by the name Medici.

Consequently, he is called the Count Palatine of the Rhine after 1085.

He was officially the Count Palatine of the Rhine from 1319 until his death in 1327.
