Fried also taught for the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
"The stakes are extremely high," said Kate Bronfenbrenner, research director at the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
"If you chose not to respond," said Christopher Metzler, a professor with the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations, "aren't you knowingly participating?"
"It wasn't something that management did until the 1980's," said David Lipsky, dean of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
He graduated from Cornell School of Industrial Relations in 1970.
In 1948, Mr. Whyte was hired as one of the first professors at the new Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
