The underground sections, especially the City Circle, typically have frequent services.

The City Circle was built in stages.

From 6 December 1981 until 23 August 1993, a train service called "City Circle" originated at the station.

A number of tram routes run along Spring Street, including the City Circle.

Travelling west, services run from the City Circle to Liverpool.

The City Circle operates at a headway of 12 minutes in both directions, with the service taking approximately 48 minutes to complete a loop.

The station was linked to the City Circle on 22 January 1956.

City Circle declares itself "nonaligned to any overseas or established doctrinal organization."

The railway station is the only station on the City Circle that is above ground.
