Chief Ramsey said there was no evidence that other people were involved in the fires.

"Our officers are already working very hard to combat crime," Chief Ramsey said.

"Violence in our city shows signs of approaching levels not seen here for several years," Chief Ramsey said at the time.

Chief Ramsey was out of town and unavailable for comment, his office said today.

Chief Ramsey said he had spoken to the family lawyers, who wanted to tell the family.

Chief Ramsey indicated that they had tried to get a warrant earlier and failed.

The economy is the best indicator of whether crime will continue to increase, Chief Ramsey said.

But Chief Ramsey did say they were looking for any evidence that might point to foul play, like blood.

"Right now, this is the only game in town, and you can afford to wait," Chief Ramsey said.

"I'd like to see it go across the country," Chief Ramsey said in an interview.
