The old building will undergo an $8 million renovation and eventually house the headquarters for Bronx detectives and other specialty units.

Capt. James Campbell of Bronx detectives said that little could be done beyond canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.

"He happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," said Michael Philbin, chief of Bronx detectives.

"You wouldn't think it would develop into something like this," said Chief Cappello, the commander of the Bronx detectives.

She told Bronx detectives that she was convinced that it was her ex-boyfriend.

Bronx detectives declined today to discuss their investigation into the June shooting.

"There is no reason to suspect that the parents are involved," said Capt. James Campbell of the Bronx detectives.

Of the dozen or so Bronx detectives on the raid, he said on the tape, "I don't know where they went after the shooting started."

Bronx detectives arrested a man yesterday in the killing of a Mexican immigrant.

Mr. Adams was charged with murder after speaking with Bronx detectives, the police said.
