Coastal salt marshes provide important wildlife habitat in the Fraser delta and Boundary Bay.

Point Roberts can be reached from the rest of the United States only by traveling through Canada or crossing Boundary Bay.

It can be reached directly from the rest of Washington and the U.S. by crossing Boundary Bay by sea or air.

To the north and west, Boundary Bay is bounded by the municipality of Delta.

The northern tip of Boundary Bay is known as Mud Bay.
