Bass says the action plan will bring together best practice.

"Several teams were interested but we just couldn't make the right deal," Bass said.

"I don't know if such meetings are possible," Bass said in response to a question.

"People are going to find that out anyway," Bass said recently in a telephone interview.

'You can tell us exactly what happened back there,' Bass said.

"The doctors thought he'd play in the second round," Bass said.

Bass said Johnson believed that a summer of rest would enable him to play next season.

"In planning and designing defense, he simply had no interest," said Bass.

"We're going to speak to our church board," Bass said.

But, Bass said, the league did find a suitable solution.
