The idea of a Second Avenue subway goes back to 1929, and the first plan was proposed in the 1960's.

Both talk about the need to increase spending on public schools in the district and to build a Second Avenue subway.

"It would be nice to have a Second Avenue subway," he says.

"The city should either shore it up or just get on with the project and give us a Second Avenue subway."

"I would say, why don't, for now, we temporarily put a hold on building the Second Avenue subway?"

Even the Second Avenue subway has found a new life in this optimistic climate.

"The current plan for a Second Avenue subway is neither a wing or a prayer."

So like death, taxes and the incomplete Second Avenue subway, the homeless will always be with us.

The money would be better spent on reviving the desperately needed Second Avenue subway line.

The largest and most expensive, including the Second Avenue subway, have been long awaited.
