The most recent sale announcement came last week from the Argentine central bank, which said it had sold 124 metric tons.

That forced the Argentine central bank to control its money supply to maintain that parity.
Credit Suisse has since written off the whole value of its 30-year-old investment in the Argentine bank.
Additionally, an estimated $3 billion of deposits has been withdrawn from Argentine banks.
In the last month, the Argentine central bank has spent about $1.2 billion in a futile effort to prop up the peso's value.
