He filed 37 new felony charges against the three, Damian Williams, 19 years old, Henry K. Watson, 27, and Antoine Miller, 20.

Two other defendants who are facing several pretrial hearings with Mr. Williams are Henry K. Watson and Antoine Miller.

Gates himself arrested Damian Williams, while other officers arrested Henry Watson and Antoine Miller.

All three men, Damian Williams, 19 years old, Henry Watson, 27, and Antoine Miller, 20, face life in prison.

Mr. Williams and three other defendants in the beating, Henry Watson, 27, Antoine Miller, 20, and Gary Williams, 33, were ordered held without bail.

The three men - Damian M. Williams, Henry K. Watson and Antoine Miller - are charged with severely beating Reginald O. Denny on April 29.

Bail was set at $185,000 for Henry Watson, 27 years old, and at $160,000 for Antoine Miller, 20.

The third defendant, Antoine Miller, will be tried separately on a charge of attempted murder, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of robbery and other charges.

The defendants in the beating of Mr. Denny are Damian Williams, 20, Antoine Miller, 21, and Henry Watson, 28.
