Tracy Connell, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said that workers were hoping to have one track available by early morning, which would allow for some reduced service.

Maureen Garrity, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said she had not seen the indictment and could not comment.

More officers are patrolling now, said an Amtrak spokeswoman, Karen Dunn, but she was unsure of the number.

Brenda Follmer, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said both sides had agreed not to comment on the details of the suit.

Vernae Graham, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said she did not know how many passengers had been affected, but said it could be more than 1,000.

The waiting time can be as long as 10 months, according to Pat Duricka, an Amtrak spokeswoman.

The accident delayed three trains, according to Sarah Swain, an Amtrak spokeswoman.

But none of the injuries were life-threatening, said an Amtrak spokeswoman, Cecilia Cummings.

"The demand was there and we felt the time was right," Deborah Hare, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said of the decision to create the new route.

An Amtrak spokeswoman said she did not know the number of passengers aboard.
