"It seemed to fit in with the corporate concern about early childhood development," said Julie Hoover, an ABC spokeswoman.

Eileen Murphy, an ABC spokeswoman, said only that the report was rejected because it "did not work out."

An ABC spokeswoman for "Desperate Housewives" declined to comment on the arrest.

No one else was hurt in the incident, an ABC spokeswoman said.

"Disney World has always used the medium of television to promote itself," said an ABC spokeswoman.

"We have a two-hour kids block in the morning," said an ABC spokeswoman, Nicole Nichols.

An ABC spokeswoman had no comment.

The assignment is temporary but could become permanent in three months, an ABC spokeswoman said yesterday, if the network and the correspondent like each other.

An ABC spokeswoman said that the public service announcement, which had appeared on the network, would no longer be shown because the campaign "has heated up."

An ABC spokeswoman declined to comment on how the issue was addressed in October and what steps were being considered now.
