The letters z and y in the existing prefixes zepto, yocto and zetta, yotta suggest the start of a series backwards through the alphabet.

A separate Linux Foundation project called Yocto was formed after MeeGo to meet exactly that need-it provides tooling and infrastructure for building custom embedded Linux platforms.

The OpenEmbedded-Core Project (OE-Core for short) resulted from the merge of the Yocto Project with OpenEmbedded.
