Two dams reached record water levels and five dams reached the water danger mark.

Among the reasons named for the deaths include the command's lack of a proper risk assessment of the weather conditions surrounding the exercise before it took place and the Ranger trainers' decision to continue with the exercise despite poor training conditions and high water dangers.

The lifeguards tell of the people who come to their beaches, their jobs and the dangers that their beaches pose like water dangers (such as rip currents and high surf), and dangers presented by marine life (such as stingrays, jellyfish, and the occasional shark).
