In the aquarium, water clover is grown fully submerged, usually in the foreground where it spreads by means of runners.

Marsilea ancyclopoda, common name Tropical Water Clover, is a plant species native to the warmer parts of the Western Hemisphere.

Common names include water clover and four-leaf clover because the long-stalked leaves have four clover-like lobes and are either held above water or submerged.

It is in the aquatic fern family Marsileaceae, and is related to the water clovers and also to Azolla and Salvinia.
