This tympanic plexus gives off:

It sends fibers through the glossopharyngeal nerve's tympanic nerve and into the tympanic plexus.

It is placed between the fenestrae, and is furrowed on its surface by small grooves, for the lodgement of branches of the tympanic plexus.

In the tympanic cavity it divides into branches which form the tympanic plexus and are contained in grooves upon the surface of the promontory.

The lesser petrosal nerve is a continuation of the glossopharyngeal nerve after it exits the skull via the jugular foramen and innervates the tympanic plexus.

The tympanic plexus of nerves rejoin and form the lesser petrosal nerve and exit through the foramen ovale to synapse at the otic ganglion.

In the tympanic cavity, the tympanic nerve (a branch of CN IX) divides into branches which form the tympanic plexus.

After arising in the tympanic plexus, lesser petrosal nerve passes from the temporal bone into the middle cranial fossa via hiatus for lesser petrosal nerve.

The lesser petrosal nerve is the visceral motor component of the glossopharyngeal nerve (CN IX), carrying parasympathetic fibres from the tympanic plexus to the parotid gland.

The preganglionic fibers depart CN IX as the tympanic nerve and continue to the middle ear where they make up a tympanic plexus on the cochlear promontory of the mesotympanum.
