Trolleybus transport was the last form of surface public transport to develop in Sofia, after buses and trams.

Transport around the town Chomutov is obtained by buses since 1995 and also by trolleybuses (the newest trolleybus transport).

Eventually, trolleybus transport was seen too expensive compared to the conventional diesel option, and therefore the City of Helsinki decided to discontinue the trolleybus service and replace it by diesel buses.

The system is operated by Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Trolejbusowej (Trolleybus Transport Company) working under commission of Zarząd Komunikacji Miejskiej (Public Transport Bureau).

During World War II a permanent establishment for tram and trolleybus transport workers was organized there, the premises could accommodate up to 400 people, for whom it was a salvation during the cold winter.
