A Malayan Night-Heron (Tiger Bittern) lurked just inside the forest edge up the hill.

In the deeply shaded valley, we came up behind a Malayan Night-Heron (Tiger Bittern) slowly walking down the middle of the road.

This phenomenon is not confined to a single species, with tiger bittern, black bittern, little egret, pond heron, Indian pitta, and kingfishers all being affected.

It is allied to the sun bittern.

The titi monkeys live in the rainforest biome with silvery marmosets, sloths, tortoises, golden-headed lion tamarins, pygmy marmosets, sun bitterns, and other exotic birds.

The grey-winged trumpeter bird and sun bittern forage together – in a bickering sort of way – on the forest floor, while monkeys, tamarins and sloths patrol the canopy above.

I saw, for the first time in my life, a sun bittern, a stunning wetland species that opens its wings as it hops from riverbank to riverbank and startles observers with its sun-ray pattern.
