For small flat-bottom ships, side launching method may be utilized (see Figure A.4)

The shipyard adopts side launching facility for high utilisation of available space and restriction on width of waterway front.

Construction is planned for wet basin, end launching slipway, side launching pad and dry dock for new construction and repairs.

The side launching method was not ideal for ships of this size and some of the vessels suffered hull damage on launch which then had to be repaired.

It is equipped with side launching facility, CNC plasma steel cutting and preparation machines, automatic blasting and painting machines, panel line fabrication, profile bending machine, rollers for plate straightening, etc.

It was established in the early 1970s and owns a shipyard having area of 10 hectares located on the left banks of the River Zuari in Goa, with a water frontage of more than 350 meters and is equipped with two slipways and one assembly bay with side launching facilities.
