Rock Wrens and Golden Eagles are occasionally spotted in a nearby red rock formation.

Most were small-strawberry-colored finches, ash-colored gnatcatchers, rock wrens and black-throated sparrows.

Bird species native to the Pueblo Mountains include sage grouses, canyon wrens, rock wrens, valley quail, and chukars.

Brown-capped rosy finches (leucosticte australis), pipits and rock wrens (salpinctes obsoletus) are also seen near the summit.

In the rimrock areas, there are Chukars, Rock Wrens, Canyon Wrens, Cliff Swallows, and Barn Swallows.

Songbirds common to that area include Bullock's Orioles, Sage Thrashers, Canyon wrens, Rock wrens, and Sage Sparrows.

Hikers can take well-marked trails through the park's eroded gullies and along the Red Deer, perhaps catching sight of rock wrens and prairie falcons, certainly the wildflowers, sage and cactus.

Many bird species use the Salmon Falls Creek canyon, including white-throated swift, canyon and rock wrens, cliff swallow, violet-green swallow, barn swallow, screech owl, long-eared owl, great horned owl, kestrel, red-tailed hawk, golden eagles and prairie falcon.
