The vulnearble Yellow-throated Bulbul is present in the sanctuary.

The Yellow-throated Bulbul is a species of bulbul endemic to southern peninsular India.

In parts of southern India, they are found in rocky hills with scrub slopes, a habitat that is also used by the Yellow-throated Bulbul.

The throat is however largely whitish unlike in the similar looking and sounding Yellow-throated Bulbul which is found in rockier habitats.

It is home of many critical birds like Long-billed Vulture, Egyptian vulture, Yellow-throated bulbul.

The region is covered in scrub forest and is home to threatened bird species such as the Yellow-throated Bulbul and Long-billed Vultures.

Among the 215 species of birds found here include Nilgiri wood pigeon, Malabar whistling thrush, yellow-throated bulbul, peregrine falcon, rufousbellied hawk eagle.

In July 1991 Rishi Valley was officially declared a bird-preserve, and was cited by the International Council for Bird Preservation (now BirdLife International) as one of the sites where the Yellow-throated Bulbul is found.
