primary spermatocyte

The primary spermatocyte is initially diploid and undergoes meiosis.

As a result of meiosis, each spermatid contains only half of the genetic material present in the original primary spermatocyte.

Each primary spermatocyte gives rise by meiosis to two secondary spermatocytes, each of which in turn divides into two spermatids.

Each primary spermatocyte duplicates its DNA and subsequently undergoes meiosis I to produce two haploid secondary spermatocytes.

Thus, the primary spermatocyte gives rise to two cells, the secondary spermatocytes, and the two secondary spermatocytes by their subdivision produce four spermatozoa.

The primary spermatocyte divides into two secondary spermatocytes; each secondary spermatocyte then divides into two spermatids.
