physiologic jaundice

Often, physiologic jaundice - the type seen in most newborns - does not require treatment.

It is a type of physiologic or exaggerated physiologic jaundice.

Physiologic jaundice is the name for normal jaundice commonly seen in healthy babies.

Physiologic jaundice develops in all babies (although it may be very slight and not noticeable) sometime after the first day of life.

The term also applies to physiologic jaundice exaggerated by dehydration, prematurity, difficult delivery, or other reason.

Breast-feeding jaundice is caused by mild dehydration, which prolongs and intensifies physiologic jaundice.
