One oviraptorosaurian specimen from China has been found with two unlaid eggs within the pelvic canal.

The size of the pelvic canal probably allowed the laying of eggs, indicating that these smaller adults are females.

The skeletons with large cranial (head) crests and small pelvic canals were presumably males.

The smaller class of specimens have small, rounded head crests and very wide pelvic canals, even wider than those of the much larger size class.

The ilial pelvic bone shifted forward and broadened, while the ischial pelvic bone shrank, narrowing the pelvic canal.

While the egg was too badly crushed to accurately determine its size, Grellet-Tinner and Makovicky estimated a diameter of about 7 cm (2.7 in) based on the width of the pelvic canal through which the egg had to have passed.
