It is also called "paraphernal property", from the Greek for "beyond the dowry", which gives us the word "paraphernalia".

Extradotal property, otherwise called "paraphernal property," is that which forms no part of the dowry.

This property was "beyond the dowry" (Greek: parapherna, the root of paraphernalia) and was known as paraphernal property or extra-dotal property.
