He is commemorated in the Coptic Synaxarion on the 9th day of Paopi.

Every year, on the 30th day of the month of Paopi, the Coptic Orthodox Church celebrates the commemoration of the consecration of the church of St. Mark, and the appearance of the head of the saint in the city of Alexandria.

The month of Paopi is the second month of the Season of 'Akhet' (Inundation) in Ancient Egypt, where the Nile floods historically covered the land of Egypt; it has not done so since the construction of the High Dam at Aswan.
