palatine uvula

The palatine uvula is a fleshy lobe hanging from the back of the mouth.

For the same reason Uvularia may also refer to the similarly derived palatine uvula, which hangs down from the soft palate in the mouth.

The soft palate is a part of the mouth, at the roof of the back of the throat, above the uvula (also called Palatine uvula).

The palatine raphe (or median raphe) is a raphe running across the palate, from the palatine uvula to the incisive papilla.

It is determined by looking at the anatomy of the mouth, and in particular the visibility of the base of palatine uvula, faucial pillars and the soft palate.

During a sneeze, the soft palate and palatine uvula depress while the back of the tongue elevates to partially close the passage to the mouth so that air ejected from the lungs may be expelled through the nose.
