Since the 1980s, the university began to incorporate a multidisciplinary system.

It is a multidisciplinary system designed to provide data in forms and at rates required by decision makers to address seven societal goals.

It is also known as multidisciplinary optimization and multidisciplinary system design optimization (MSDO).

Specialty systems would include those with physicians dedicated to emergency medicine whereas multidisciplinary systems would encompass those that rely on physicians from other disciplines to provide emergency care.
