After politely declining the latter, we spent a few minutes online and quickly identified it as a long-tailed pangolin.

The tail of this species had 42-43 vertebrae, a number surpassed among mammals solely by the Long-tailed Pangolin.

As with other pangolins, the long-tailed pangolin is covered with overlapping scales, in this case a dark brown color with a brighter rim, which serves as camouflage.
