The median nerve supplies motor innervation to the first and second Lumbricals of the hand.

The lumbricals of the hand arise from the radial side of its tendons.

The lumbricals of the hand, extensor indicis muscle, dorsal interossei of the hand, and palmar interossei insert on these bands.

An ulnar claw may follow an ulnar nerve lesion which results in the partial or complete denervation of the ulnar (medial) two lumbricals of the hand.

This is due to the loss of innervation of the lateral 2 lumbricals of the hand and the lateral half of the flexor digitorum profundus which are supplied by the median nerve.

The deep palmar arch lies upon the bases of the metacarpal bones and on the interossei of the hand, being covered by the oblique head of the adductor pollicis muscle, the flexor tendons of the fingers, and the lumbricals of the hand.
