The ischiofemoral ligament prevents medial (internal) rotation while the pubofemoral ligament restricts abduction and internal rotation of the hip joint.

They include the iliofemoral ligament, the teres ligament, the pubofemoral ligament, the ischiofemoral ligament, and the zona orbicularis ligament.

The ischiocapsular ligament (ischiofemoral ligament, ischiocapsular band; ligament of Bertin) consists of a triangular band of strong fibers on the posterior side of the hip joint.
