internal auditory meatus

There are two internal auditory meatus in most individuals, one on the left side of the skull and one on the right.

Böttcher's ganglion: Ganglion on the cochlear nerve in the internal auditory meatus.

Internal acoustic meatus (or internal auditory meatus)

Internal auditory meatus, a canal in the temporal bone of the skull that carries nerves from inside the cranium towards the middle and inner-ear compartments.

Internal auditory meatus (meatus acusticus internus)

The vestibular Schwannomas grow slowly at the inner entrance of the internal auditory meatus (meatus acousticus internus).

"Examination of the skull revealed a schwannoma arising from the vestibular nerve, near the porus acusticus, extending into both the internal auditory meatus.

It emerges from the pons and exits the inner skull via the internal acoustic meatus (or internal auditory meatus) in the temporal bone.

It arises from bipolar cells in the vestibular ganglion, ganglion of Scarpa, which is situated in the upper part of the outer end of the internal auditory meatus.
