Colonic carcinoma was found in three patients (two caecal and one at the hepatic flexure).

Right colon: consists of the cecum, ascending colon, hepatic flexure, and transverse colon.

There are two colic flexures in the transverse colon - the other being the hepatic flexure, as it is next to the liver, in the right upper quadrant.

The transverse colon is the part of the colon from the hepatic flexure to the splenic flexure (the turn of the colon by the spleen).

Four patients had total colitis and two patients had extensive disease - that is, reaching the transverse colon but with an upper limit distal to the hepatic flexure.

The right (lateral) paracolic gutter runs from the superolateral aspect of the hepatic flexure of the colon, down the lateral aspect of the ascending colon, and around the caecum.

The Hepatocolic ligament is an occasional fold of peritoneum that extends from the right side of the lesser omentum and passes from the lower surface of the liver near the gallbladder to the hepatic flexure.
