head of pancreas

Commonly found in head of pancreas, and are malignant.

Körte's sign (pain or resistance in the zone where the head of pancreas is located (in epigastrium, 6-7 cm above the umbilicus))

Single lesion in head of pancreas or single lesion less than 1.0 cm in tail of pancreas: Enucleation, if feasible.

The head of pancreas is a portion of the pancreas that is lodged within the curve of the duodenum, and is flattened anteriorly (from before).

The peritoneum is incised at the right edge of the duodenum, and the duodenum and the head of pancreas are reflected to the opposite direction, i.e. to the left.

Continual contamination of bile duct by indwelling stents (as may occur in chronic conditions like tumor of the head of pancreas) requires monitoring by repeated radiologic tests and changing of the stents.

The superior pancreaticoduodenal artery from gastroduodenal artery and the inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery from superior mesenteric artery run in the groove between the pancreas and the duodenum and supply the head of pancreas.
