Offspring fitness in relation to population size and genetic variation in the rare perennial plant species Gentiana pneumonanthe (Gentianaceae).

Marsh Gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe) is found less frequently in similar areas from mid August to mid September.

Landward there is reed vegetation with large and small sedge flora, rushes, Iris siberica, and the rare Gentiana pneumonanthe.

A good assemblages of wetland species including sundews (Drosera) and marsh gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe), and of heathland road verge species.

Among the flora we find several oak species, birch, pine, alder and beech and the very rare marsh gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe) and bog myrtle (Myrica gale).

Other plants found here include the protected common lousewort (Pedicularis sylvatica), which is on the red list of endangered vascular plants in Germany, and the rare marsh gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe).

The butterfly lays its eggs onto the Marsh Gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe); in the region of the Alps they are sometimes also found on the related Willow Gentian (Gentiana asclepiadea).
