The Rose Garden will abound with tulips, lavender, garden pinks and other perennials.

As a form of dianthus, sweet Williams are closely related to the garden pinks, any of which are also richly endowed with scent, like the old favourite Mrs Sinkins.

One of the thriving garden pinks that emerged is a sweet-smelling semidouble red; from a search of illustrations, I am pretty sure that it is the one called Hollycroft Fragrance, though the enormous number of varieties of pink makes certainty impossible.
