Flagrant inequalities between men and women still exist today in the employment sector, particularly when it comes to differences in pay or even reconciling work and family life.

It will only be possible to combat diseases linked to poverty effectively if we combat poverty itself and, consequently, combat the flagrant inequalities of a social organisation in which certain individuals can obtain and accumulate more wealth than entire countries possess.

Lastly, in the face of the flagrant inequality with regard to hunger, it was proposed in Porto Alegre to implement better global redistribution of wealth, in particular through cancelling the debt, but also through taxing capital transfers for the benefit of development.
