In a small anatomical study is was shown that the epiphysial line passes directly trough the quadrate tubercle.

The transverse humeral ligament is a broad band passing from the lesser tubercle to the greater tubercle of the humerus, and is always limited to that portion of the bone which lies above the epiphysial line.

Other studies have shown vitamin K antagonists (usually a class of anticoagulants) lead to early calcification of the epiphysis and epiphysial line in mice and other animals, causing seriously decreased bone growth, due to defects in osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein.
