dithiocarbamate

A dithiocarbamate is a functional group in organic chemistry.

This results in precipitation of the ammonium dithiocarbamate salt, which is then treated with lead nitrate to yield the corresponding isothiocyanate.

It is produced by reacting ethylene bis(dithiocarbamate) sodium salt, nabam, with zinc sulfate.

Commercially available, this compound may be synthesized by reacting aniline with carbon disulfide and concentrated ammonia to give the ammonium dithiocarbamate salt.
