The tree-kangaroos are marsupials of the genus Dendrolagus adapted for arboreal locomotion.

The family includes kangaroos, wallabies and their relatives, and the genus Dendrolagus, with eleven species.

Out of all of the Dendrolagus species, the Matschie's tree-kangaroo is the best vertical climber and has more strength in its muscles than any others.

Bennett's Tree Kangaroo Dendrolagus bennettianus inhabits rainforest at both high and low altitudes north of the Daintree River, in an area of only about 50 by 70 kilometres.

He travelled and wrote extensively with Walter Rothschild; their publications included New mammals from Dutch New Guinea (1932) and a study of tree kangaroos The Genus Dendrolagus (1936).

Though this hypothesis was doubted by Nopcsa, it was adopted by the Danish researcher Gerhard Heilmann who in 1916 proposed that a quadrupedal Hypsilophodon lived like the modern tree-kangaroo Dendrolagus.

Some of their writing included New mammals from Dutch New Guinea (which was published in 1932) and a book about tree kangaroos which was called The Genus Dendrolagus (which was published in 1936).
