Glycidol is used as a stabilizer for natural oils and vinyl polymers and as a demulsifier.

The product is a convenient reference standard for demulsifier manufacturers and users as it overcomes the drawbacks of variability, opacity and flammability encountered with crude oil.

Commercially available demulsifier formulations are typically a mixture of two to four different chemistries, in carrier solvent(s) such as xylene, Heavy Aromatic Naptha (HAN), Isopropanol, methanol, 2-ethylhexanol or Diesel.
